LED retrofit: legal – for listed models
In Germany, LED retrofit lamps are only permitted with a general type approval (ABG) issued by the KBA (Federal Motor Transport Authority) for the approved vehicle models; the ABG must be carried in the vehicle. Check compatibility in the manufacturer's vehicle list before fitting (e.g. osram.de/ledcheck). We're happy to advise you.

The Osram Cool Blue Intense (next gen) delivers extra-white light of up to 5,000 K and up to 100% more brightness than the minimum requirements of ECE R112 – with no conversion needed.

Are LED retrofit lamps legal?
Yes, if the vehicle model is on the manufacturer's compatibility list and the ABG is carried in the vehicle. For unlisted vehicles, we recommend high-quality halogen lamps such as the Cool Blue Intense.
